Barite (or barite) is a mineral species consisting of barium sulfate with the formula BaSO 4 with traces of Sr, Ca and Pb. This mineral with hydrothermal origin has different types. Density and barium in it are the main factors of its industrial use and several million tons of barite are extracted and produced every year.
