Calcination furnace


Calcination is a heat treatment used to create a chemical separation. It refers to heating a solid to a high temperature in the absence of air or oxygen, generally to remove impurities or volatiles. However, calcination is also used to mean a thermal treatment process in the absence or limited supply of air or oxygen applied to rocks and other solid materials to cause thermal decomposition.

Rotary kilns are usually used to carry out the calcination process. Depending on the goals of the process and the materials to be processed, the furnace may be of direct or indirect firing type.
